Since 1965

In elementary school the teacher brought sour bread in and told us how it grows. I went home and decided to make my own that same day. My parents wouldn't let me have pets, so instead my sourdough became my pets.

Characteristics

She loves humid spots in the house. I feed her organic flour. Chocolate coconut Belgian waffles are the fav uses. She lives in the kitchen with other active cultures- kefir, gingerbug, kombucha, fermented veggies, etc. I wonder if those cultures impact her or not. She seems very active when I feed the other cultures. I also play music all the time. I believe the cultures enjoy music.

I have shared this culture with most of my friends for the holidays. I made sourdough oatmeal cookies and scones for family gifts. It's fun to watch folks light up when they make their first bread or Belgian waffle.
