A friend gave me a starter that dates back to1862. My mom asked me to find a starter here in Alaska. I never thought the first one I found would be so old. Mom & I jumped into sourdough baking with both feet.

I save 1 cup of starter and add 2 cups all purpose unbleached flour and a scant 2 cups well water.
